R&D - Strategy Consultant
Fit to Win is Bayer Consumer Health’s (BCH) transformational game plan setting out how we will become the BEST Consumer Health company. A Fit to Win priority is ‘Growth Focused Innovation’ (GFI). We have established an exciting programme to deliver our ambitions and long-term profitable growth.
The R&D Strategy - Programme Lead is accountable for structuring and delivering the GFI programme, which is cross-functional, complex and strategically important. The role is also responsible for the underpinning R&D Game Plan which supports GFI delivery.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Strategy – work with sponsors to articulate outcomes, shape the programme and influence business case definition
• Lead - the definition and planning of the activities to deliver business case outcomes considering the organisation and culture change needed to ensure benefits realisation
• Design - implement and operate programme governance frameworks and collaborative working practices to ensure that roles and responsibilities are clear and projects set up for success
• Manage - the day-to-day coordination of programme tasks, workstreams and associated budgets. Ensure any change requests are comprehensively scoped and prioritised
• Monitor - report progress against plans, budgets and benefits; ensure that outcomes remain aligned to strategic objectives
• Identify and manage risks, issues and dependencies. Make timely interventions to resolve or avoid issues
• Interface across stakeholders and delivery teams to ensure they have the information they need to make timely and effective decisions
• Set up and actively manage third party suppliers against an agreed budget and scope
• Communicate programme status to the GFI SteerCo and R&D Leadership Team to enable understanding of progress, outcomes, opportunities and challenges
• Project manage specified initiatives that form part of the programmes as required
Who you are:
• EDUCATION:
o University degree ideally in the science, business or project
management fields
o Programme, project or transformation qualification (preferred)
• EXPERIENCE:
o Several years of change and transformation management within
a CPG, FMCG or consulting organisation. Innovation or new product development most relevant
o Experience of leading and integrating multinational and multidisciplinary teams
• COMPETENCIES:
o Business & Financial Acumen– firm grasp of end-to-end innovation processes, business and finance fundamentals, the consumer health industry and consumer markets globally
o Information Analysis – adept in formulating strategy, having evaluated options with a clear sense of programme priorities and risks. Skilled in managing and integrating information from multiple parallel
workstreams
o Stakeholder Management – able to lead and influence the programme approach, having secured buy-in from stakeholders and the programme board. A great communicator, works with openness and integrity to build trust
o Change Management – talent for planning leading and executing multi-national projects in a matrix environment. Excellent project management skills (incl. MS Project). Comfortable with a high level of
empowerment and autonomy
o Resource Management – accomplished in securing the resources needed to meet programme objectives internally and externally. Able to resolve conflicting demands and coach workstream as required. Generates a ONE TEAM perspective to the achievement of programme goals
o Delivery Focus – ability to move things forward and make progress in face of complexity or uncertainty, comfortable trusting empowered teams to deliver
o Digital Transformation – aptitude for digitising the working environment, a future-facing approach, able to seek and embed technologies that deliver efficiency and results
o Design & Innovation Thinking – innovative and agile mindset; out of the box thinker who is passionate about questioning the status quo and coming up with creative solutions and actively asking for other
opinions
o Process Optimisation – skilled in designing, improving and automating business processes. Able to conduct root cause analysis
